Calling all recruits! Sony Online Entertainment has opened up signups for PlanetSide 2′s upcoming beta test and is requesting all available soldiers to enlist. To mark the occasion the PlanetSide 2 website has undergone a drastic face lift consolidating all the info released for the MMOFPS thus far as well as including the new beta signup link.
PlanetSide 2 is more of a reboot and update of the original game rather than a direct sequel. The new game will be using the new Forgelight Engine to deliver vastly improved graphics and physics to bring it more in line with today’s gaming market. This should be welcome news for many of the fans that played the original and should attract many more new players to the game. Especially since it will most likely adopt a free-to-play business model after the success of the other MMO’s SOE manages that have gone F2P like DCUO.
Players will be able to choose from three factions to fight for; the Terran Republic, the New Conglomerate and the Vanu Sovereignty. Each faction has their own set of unique weapons and vehicles and battle for control of the planet Auraxis.
